Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), Austrian Art Nouveau Painter, was the founder of the Vienna Secession and the Austrian art nouveau movement. He had formal training at the Vienna School of Decorative Arts. His early work was painted primarily in a naturalistic style. His later works shifted toward greater innovation and imagination, taking on a more decorative, symbolic aspect.
